Wichita Mountains

One of the things our family loves doing is driving through the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. Since the temperatures are starting to cool down and fall is settling in, the animals will probably be moving around more. You can see elk, bison, white-tailed deer, and Texas Longhorn cattle. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by the home of the prairie dogs where you can view many prairie dogs running in and out of their holes. That is my son’s favorite spot! In the middle of the refuge is a small museum where you can learn more about the animals in Southwest Oklahoma.

Once you’ve spent the day walking around, you will be hungry so head on over to Meers for a great Southwest Oklahoma burger. The Hood Longhorns provide Meers with the beef that they use to make their delicious burgers. The one thing you have to know is that Meers only excepts CASH so don’t be like me and have to go somewhere else because all I had in my purse was plastic! Here is the link to Meers. Enjoy!
