Since I wrote about the Wichita Mountains last week, this week I’m focusing on Mount Scott, which is also part of the Wichita Mountains. It is located near Medicine Park, approximately 25 miles northwest of Lawton. If you are into mountain climbing, Mt. Scott is a great place to go! Based on the information on the website, all the routes are one-pitch, ranging from 5.4 to 5.11, and almost all can be top-roped. Since I’m not a climber, I have no idea what that means, but maybe it will help someone who knows climbing.
If climbing is not your thing, driving up the mountain is beautiful because you can look all over the refuge and Lake LaTonka. When you get to the top, there are places you can hike, take pictures, eat a picnic lunch, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Enjoy your day!
